Liv Shirley
Bass and Vocals for We Might Die
Musician for 5+ years
Don’t let Liv’s age fool you, she has a lot to say and she’s not afraid to say it. Or scream it, really. She literally has no business being as cool as she is. In all seriousness, Liv has been immersed in color and music since the day she was born. It is not surprising that she has carved her own creative path and uses her instruments, writing, sharp wit, and even sharper tongue to navigate tough emotions and situations. She is fierce and fearless, which is the perfect combination for a front person to have. You cannot help but watch her when she is on stage. She commands your attention, in the best way possible.
It all began in her early adolescence when she found “the one.” That perfect guitar that just felt right in her hands. A Squire Mustang to be exact. The trajectory of her life forever changed after that moment. She took several years of professional training and performed on stages multiple times a year. Liv quickly picked up bass, took vocal lessons, and gained confidence and the ability to improv in front of hundreds of people.
During her Eighth grade year she started writing songs and lyrics. And to her surprise, she never intended to be in a punk band. That just happened to be what came out when she started writing and performing. She channels all of her riot grrl energy into her music and uses it as a way to explore and dissect the emotions that are bottled up. She has a way of turning very human situations in life that many struggle with into a catchy and healing hook that people of all backgrounds, identities, and age can relate to. She is often praised for her outspokenness and ability to call out creeps and hold people accountable in the local scene. She has quickly become a scene icon for her bravery alone.
When she isn’t twirling on stage and screaming “Get Out of My Scene,” she spends her time doing typical teen things: hanging out with friends, playing the occasional video game, collecting Monster High Dolls and Hot Wheels. She also spends her free time practicing special FX makeup and executing her latest art project.
